Pinoylmpics

Peter Reitano, an outstanding JCI member, attended this year's Asia Pacific Conference in Manila. Peter represented our Chapter at a very interesting joint project called Pinoylmpics. Here is what Peter has to said about his experience.

JCI WHITEHORSE MAROONDAH REPRESENTED AT JOINT PROJECT IN MANILA

During the 2011 Asia Pacific Conference those Australians attending were asked by Don Bales (JCI Sydney President) to attend a joint project between JCI Makati Princess Urduja (all female chapter), JCI Makati (all male chapter) and JCI Sydney.   David Phelan (JCI Melbourne) and I (JCI Whitehorse Maroondah) attended.  This event was "Pinoylmpics - promote our culture to the children, learn our street games".

The event was held in a less priviledged part of Manila.  During the day the children were divided into teams and we were made captains of the teams.  They showed us some of their street games and taught us a few dance moves.

Lunch was also provided and Vitamin A drops were given orally to the children who are old enough.  I understand these drops are taken a couple of times a year and help stop blindness.

This was a great project and one at which I was greatly honoured to represent JCI Whitehorse Maroondah !

Regards,
Peter Reitano
